About me

Hello! I am Catarina and this is Bougie Portuguese.

I am a very normal person who happens to have too many interests and also to teach Portuguese. And you know what? Somehow I feel it all relates together.

I like crafts, learning languages ( as of 2025 I speak 6), reading and cooking ( by the way, I used to be a chef. Shocking I know...).

My adhd makes me be interested in multiple things and I found my students to be the same. We often find ourselves talking about the most random, but interesting subjects, and go down a rabbit hole... but you know what? That's what makes the classes interesting, you not only learn Portuguese but also a few other fun facts.

So what's the goal?

Let's start with the goal for you: I want to help you learn Portuguese & connect to my culture! But that doesn't mean sticking your nose in books or boring subjects. That's where my controlled randomness comes in. You can learn Portuguese while having fun but also learning about different topics. I also want to show you the hidden gems of Portugal, cultural habits and the less cliché stuff.

Now I also have a goal for me. When teaching I also want to be excited with it, so I am challenging myself to use multiple non-common topics to teach you Portuguese so that the class is also fun for me. I crave variety on my day-to-day and, honestly in my job the same thing. So I like to explore topics, fun facts, history, fashion, food, traditions ...... All you can think of.

What to expect...

Well, I won't make promises. I can't promise consistency under my adhd temperamental mood but I can promise you variety and constant articles, classes, tricks, fun facts...

I teach full-time so sometimes it will be difficult to work here. My goal is to free up some time to create videos, audios & content for all learners. By supporting this publication you'll be able to help me do that. In this way I am able to reach more people and help them start this awesome journey that is learning a new language! Not only that, but also, to explore an unknown side of Portugal and connect with us to a deeper level.
